Beyond Federation: Account Consolidation
Consolidate all of your accounts to improve user experience, security, and account management
Often, a large provider will have built up many service offerings for customers. This situation can be cumbersome for the customer and difficult for the provider to manage. Federation is one of the conventional answers to this problem, but it does not address the manageability issue and certainly does not minimize data and account exposure, leaving them vulnerable to account takeover (ATO) attacks.
Orchestration with decisioning goes beyond federation to consolidate multiple service offerings from the same provider.
How identity account consolidation works
Orchestration with decisioning enables flexible account consolidation, depending on how the provider wishes to interact with its customers. The flexibility of identity orchestration for account consolidation is essential, as providers have specific ways they prefer to interact with customers. However, a typical journey to consolidate an account would go something like this:
- The customer would log in to their account with the provider.
- Once the customer has successfully accessed their account, they will be offered the option to consolidate their accounts, or a consolidation policy will be enforced.
- This would start the consolidation process using the orchestration and decisioning capabilities.
- The process may involve adding additional authentication measures or conducting new verification and AML checks.
- Once the consolidation process is completed (and this may be seamless if no further security checks are needed), the customer will be able to log in to any of the consolidated services using a single access page. The latter part of the process can be configured to suit the provider’s needs.
The power of identity orchestration with decisioning
Orchestration with decisioning is a powerful tool for building flexible, modifiable, and usable identity ecosystems. This vanguard in identity technology will change how we provide services to people and how data use can be secured, enhanced for privacy, and future-proofed.
