What is Orchestration and Decisioning?

Orchestration and decisioning is a technology layer that is used to add capability to an identity ecosystem. The Orchestration connects all of the components of the identity system including identity providers, verification services, third-party authentication, anti-fraud checks, and services. The decisioning uses signals from these connected components to modify user journeys and respond appropriately to transaction events.

Is Orchestration and Decisioning the same as Identity Orchestration?

The principle of orchestration is relative new in the identity space. Approaches to identity orchestration vary. However, four core approaches are becoming dominant:

User journey orchestration: Uses to modify user journeys using a graphical interface

Digital wallet orchestration: Used to orchestrate digital wallets to provide an interface for users to pick and choose a wallet to transact with.

Agentic orchestration: Optimizes the use of AI agents, connecting agents to a system to streamline agent applications.

Identity orchestration and decisioning: Multiple APIs that are combined to form a layer of connectivity and signal-based decisioning. The orchestration connects identity ecosystem components and signals from these connections are used to optimize the ecosystem use. Orchestration with decisioning has multiple applications and offers capabilities such as protocol translation and issuance of wallet passes.

Can an existing service incorporate Orchestration and Decisioning into existing user accounts?

Yes. Orchestration and decisioning, such as Avoco ODE can be incorporated into an existing service and identity ecosystem. The APIs are REST-based and support standards protocols. Avoco ODE can also be used to handle complex protocols, such as FAPI, on behalf of a service. Adding an orchestration layer to an existing service will seamlessly add capabilities, including identity verification, AML and other anti-fraud checks, new and secure authentication options, and interoperability with wallets and other services, as required.
